Lecture Venue: Conference Room 303, School of Energy and Power Engineering.

Lecture ContentIn the process of launch vehicle improvement and optimization or new launch vehicle design process, various complicated flow and heat transfer problems will be encountered. This report proposes and summarizes a variety of corresponding model simplification methods in the process of numerical simulation of carrier rocket flow and heat transfer, such as complex initial conditions, complex flight processes, and complex boundary conditions. The dimensional approximation method provides a reference for the numerical simulation of propellant complex flow and heat transfer. Taking the "ChangZheng 5" flying as an example, the separation process of the first stage and the upper stage of the ChangZheng 5 rocket is divided into the initial overload sloshing section, the first-stage shutdown transition section, the microgravity sliding section, and the propellant sinking. In the five stages of the bottom section and the ignition section of the main engine, three-dimensional direct numerical simulation of the fluid dynamics of the liquid hydrogen storage tank and the liquid oxygen storage tank is carried out. Obtained the movement form and distribution law of propellant, especially the movement form and law of pressurized gas. Finally, the separation sequence between stages was determined, and optimization suggestions were put forward to ensure the successful start of the main engine of the upper stage of the ChangZheng 5 and escort the successful launch of the ChangZheng 5.

Introduction of the presenterZhou Bing-Hong, researcher, doctoral supervisor, National Space Science Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences, System Simulation and Demonstration Laboratory. The research direction is fluid mechanics and aircraft design. Presided over 8 scientific research projects at all levels, including 5 national defense research projects. He has been responsible for long-term research on the propellant sloshing of the ChangZheng series of rockets and the flow and heat transfer under space microgravity conditions, especially in conjunction with the technical improvements of my country's series of carrier rockets, and developed the large tank cryogenic propellant sloshing, phase change and heat transfer theoretical models And three-dimensional indefinite constant value simulation research work. The research results were applied to the aerospace department's Long March 2 upper stage de-orbit, ChangZheng 3 ChangE project for long time sliding of the upper stage, ChangZheng 5 inter-stage separation timing design, Long March 5 improved design, ChangZheng 7 optimized design, new and repeatable Use launch vehicles and other models and missions.
